Lala is Hungry, So She Goes to the Kitchen to Get Asparagus and Asks Thuy to Cook!

One sunny afternoon, Lala’s stomach gave a loud growl. She rubbed her belly and looked around the living room. “I need something delicious,” she mumbled to herself. With determination in her eyes, she stood up and marched straight to the kitchen.

Opening the fridge, Lala scanned the shelves. There were fruits, leftovers, and a bundle of bright green asparagus tucked in the corner. Her eyes lit up. “Asparagus it is!” she said with a smile. She loved the crisp snap and earthy flavor of asparagus, especially when it was cooked just right.

But there was one problem: Lala didn’t know how to cook it.

“Thuy!” Lala called out, her voice echoing down the hallway. A few seconds later, Thuy appeared in the doorway, wiping her hands on a kitchen towel.

“What’s up, Lala?” Thuy asked, amused by her friend’s excited expression.

“I’m starving, and I found asparagus in the fridge. Can you cook it for me, please?” Lala asked, holding up the bunch like a prize she had just won.

Thuy laughed. “Of course I can. Let’s make something yummy.”

Together, they got to work. Thuy turned on the stove while Lala rinsed the asparagus and trimmed the ends. Thuy tossed the stalks in olive oil, added garlic, a pinch of salt, and squeezed a bit of lemon juice over them. The kitchen soon filled with a warm, savory aroma that made Lala’s mouth water even more.

As the asparagus sizzled in the pan, Lala set the table, adding a vase of fresh flowers in the center. A few minutes later, Thuy served the golden-browned asparagus with a side of rice and a soft-boiled egg on top.

Lala took a bite and sighed with joy. “Thuy, this is amazing!”

Thuy smiled. “Told you asparagus could be awesome.”

And from that day on, whenever Lala felt hungry, she knew exactly what to ask for—and who to ask.
