Monkey Lyly was a cheerful little monkey who lived with her family deep in the heart of the jungle. One sunny morning, her mother had to go to the hospital because of a terrible toothache that had been bothering her for days. Lyly stayed behind with her grandmother, feeling worried but hopeful that her mother would feel better soon.
When her mother finally returned home, she looked tired and weak. Though the dentist had treated her, the pain from the toothache hadn’t completely gone away. Her cheeks were slightly swollen, and she moved slowly as she entered their treehouse.
Lyly rushed to her side, her small face filled with concern. “Mommy, are you okay?” she asked, gently holding her mother’s hand.
“I’ll be fine, sweetie,” her mother said with a weak smile. “Just a little sore.”
Lyly didn’t waste a moment. She quickly got to work making her mother feel better. First, she brought her a soft banana smoothie, careful to avoid anything hard or crunchy that might hurt her mother’s teeth. Then she fluffed up the leaf pillows on her mother’s bed and helped her lie down comfortably.
As her mother rested, Lyly sat by her side, stroking her arm gently. She told her funny stories about her day, imitating their neighbor parrot’s silly voice and making her mother laugh — though not too hard, because laughing made her jaw ache. Lyly even sang a soft lullaby that her mother used to sing to her when she was little.
That night, Lyly stayed close, holding her mother’s hand until she fell asleep. Her small, caring heart was full of love, and she wanted nothing more than for her mother to feel better.
Though she was just a young monkey, Lyly showed the kindness and comfort of someone much older. Her mother smiled softly in her sleep, knowing she had the sweetest daughter in the jungle.
