It was a quiet night in the jungle, and little BiBi the baby elephant had just been tucked into bed by his mom. The moonlight filtered softly through the trees, and the gentle sounds of crickets sang him a lullaby.
“Goodnight, my sweet BiBi,” Mama Elephant whispered, giving him a kiss on the forehead. “Daddy will be back soon.”
But BiBi didn’t want to wait. He missed his dad too much.
As soon as his mom left the room, BiBi peeked out from under his blanket. His small ears twitched with determination. “I’m going to find Daddy,” he said to himself.
Quietly, he tiptoed out of his leafy bed, careful not to wake his sleeping jungle friends. He crept past the fireflies, stepped over a sleepy lizard, and slipped into the tall grass. The night was cooler than he expected, and the sounds of owls and rustling leaves made him a little nervous—but he kept going.
Back in the den, Mama Elephant noticed the empty bed. “BiBi?” she called, her voice filled with worry. When she saw his tiny footprints in the dirt leading into the forest, her heart skipped a beat. “Oh, my little one…”
Meanwhile, BiBi trudged on, calling softly, “Daddy? Daaaddy?” But all he heard were frogs croaking and wind in the trees. Suddenly, he felt very small and very alone.
Just as a tear formed in his eye, a familiar sound echoed through the night—trumpet! It was his dad’s call!
“Daddy!” BiBi shouted, running toward the sound. And there, beneath a tall tree, stood Daddy Elephant with a smile as wide as the river.
“Oh, BiBi,” Daddy said, scooping him up with his trunk, “what are you doing out here?”
“I missed you,” BiBi sniffled.
Soon, Mama arrived too, hugging them both. “Let’s go home, little explorer.”
Wrapped in his parents’ trunks, BiBi smiled sleepily. He’d found his dad—and learned that love was never far away.
