Deep in the lush green forest, where sunlight danced through the leaves, lived a mischievous little monkey named Lyly. Lyly was known among her animal friends for her boundless energy and endless curiosity. One sunny afternoon, as she was swinging from branch to branch, a strong, strange smell caught her attention. It was sweet, sour, and… stinky? Lyly wrinkled her nose and followed the scent.
There, lying beneath a towering durian tree, was the source of the smell — a large, spiky fruit. Lyly had seen durians before but had never dared to get too close. Today, however, her curiosity got the better of her. “What’s inside that stinky thing?” she wondered aloud. “It smells funny, but kind of yummy too.”
With a grin, she scampered down the tree and cautiously poked the durian. “Ouch!” she yelped, pulling her paw back quickly. The spines were sharp! But Lyly was determined. She hopped around it, inspecting every side, looking for a weak spot. Then she grabbed a stick and started poking and prying. No luck.
Not ready to give up, she climbed up a nearby tree and dropped a small rock onto the durian. Thud! Still nothing. Frustrated, Lyly stomped her tiny feet. “I just want one bite!” she whined. Then, an idea sparked in her mind.
With all her strength, Lyly rolled the durian against a jagged stone. CRACK! The shell finally split open, revealing soft, creamy yellow flesh inside. The smell was stronger now, but Lyly didn’t care. She scooped up a chunk and took a bite.
Her eyes lit up. “Mmm!” she mumbled through full cheeks. “So good!”
Just then, an older monkey appeared and sighed, “Lyly, you naughty girl! You know you’re not supposed to eat those alone!”
But Lyly only giggled, holding out a piece. “Try it! It’s worth the trouble!”
From that day on, Lyly was known not only as the most curious monkey but also the bravest one to conquer the King of Fruits.
