In the quiet village of Sunberry, where the flowers always seemed to smile and the clouds drifted like sleepy sheep, lived a small bunny named Pupu. Pupu was curious, gentle, and a little shy. He spent his days hopping between meadows and reading picture books under his favorite willow tree. Though he loved his cozy world, Pupu often felt a little lonely.
One spring morning, while exploring a patch of daisies near the edge of the forest, Pupu heard a tiny sneeze. Turning around, he found a small, scruffy creature peeking from behind a bush. It had bright, curious eyes and a nose that twitched nervously. “Hello,” Pupu said softly. “Are you lost?”
The creature nodded. “I’m Nib. I wandered too far from my burrow and now I can’t find my way back.”
Without hesitation, Pupu offered his paw. “You can stay with me until we figure it out.”
Days turned into weeks. Pupu and Nib became inseparable. They played hide-and-seek among the tall grasses, shared carrots and giggles, and told stories late into the night. Pupu had never laughed so much or felt so warm inside. For the first time, he didn’t feel alone.
But one afternoon, as they sat under the willow tree, a voice called from the woods. “Nib! Nib, where are you?”
It was Nib’s family.
Nib’s face lit up with joy and tears. He looked at Pupu. “That’s my mom.”
Pupu’s heart sank. He smiled bravely. “You should go to her.”
Nib rushed into his family’s arms. Then he turned back and ran to Pupu, throwing his tiny arms around him. That’s when Pupu hugged his new friend and didn’t want to let go.
“I’ll visit,” Nib promised. “Every week.”
And though the hug eventually ended, the warmth of it never faded. From then on, Pupu knew he would never truly be alone again. Friendships, once found, lived forever in the heart.
