Lala sat by the window, her chin resting on her hands as she stared out at the gray sky. Rain poured down in heavy sheets, drumming against the glass like a never-ending song of gloom. She had planned a big adventure that day — a walk in the park, a stop at her favorite ice cream stand, and maybe even flying her kite if the wind was just right. But the weather had other plans.
She sighed. Her red rain boots sat by the door, unused. Her kite, still tightly rolled, leaned sadly against the wall. Lala had been looking forward to this day all week, and now it felt like everything was ruined.
“Why does it always rain when I want to do something fun?” she muttered to herself. Her cat, Momo, curled up beside her on the windowsill, gave a soft meow as if to comfort her.
Her mom walked in, carrying a cup of warm cocoa. “I know it’s disappointing,” she said gently, handing Lala the mug. “But maybe we can make the best of it. Rainy days can be cozy too.”
Lala took a sip. It was sweet and warm, just the way she liked it. Her mom pulled out an old box of art supplies and spread them on the floor. “What if we made a big, colorful poster of all the things you want to do when the sun comes back?”
Lala hesitated, then nodded slowly. As she drew, her frown began to fade. She painted the park, her kite flying high, and even Momo wearing tiny sunglasses. The rain still poured outside, but inside, Lala felt lighter.
Maybe she couldn’t go out today. But tomorrow was another chance. And for now, there were stories to read, pictures to paint, and cocoa to sip.
Sometimes, rainy days weren’t so bad after all.
