It all started on a perfectly normal morning, just as Dad was getting ready to leave the house. Cubis, the little monkey with endless curiosity and clever hands, was sitting quietly on the table, watching every move with bright, mischievous eyes. No one noticed when Cubis gently picked up Dad’s key and examined it like a shiny treasure. With a quick glance around, Cubis slipped away, tail twitching in excitement.
Mom heard Dad calling out, “Has anyone seen my keys?” Cubis froze for a second, then scrambled up the curtain, clutching the keys tightly. From his hiding spot, he peeked down, clearly enjoying the sudden chaos. Dad searched the couch, the shelves, even his pockets again, growing more confused by the minute. Meanwhile, Cubis couldn’t contain his delight. He shook the keys softly, the familiar jingle almost giving him away.
Lala spotted the movement first and burst out laughing. “Dad, I think Cubis has them!” she said, pointing upward. Dad looked up just in time to see Cubis grinning proudly, keys dangling from his tiny fingers. “Cubis, give those back,” Dad pleaded, holding out his hand. But Cubis only tilted his head, hugged the keys to his chest, and squeaked happily. Clearly, this was now a game.
Dad tried every trick he knew. He offered fruit, then snacks, even Cubis’s favorite toy. Cubis shook his head each time, determined to keep his prize. He hopped from shelf to shelf, making Dad chase him around the room. Laughter filled the house as the morning turned into an unexpected comedy show.
Finally, Mom had an idea. She picked up a small mirror and held it toward Cubis. Curious, Cubis paused, distracted by his own reflection. In that brief moment, Dad gently took the keys back. Cubis looked surprised, then broke into playful chatter, clearly proud of his clever prank.
As Dad finally headed out the door, late but smiling, he shook his head and laughed. Cubis waved from the window, already searching for his next adventure. That day, everyone learned one thing: with Cubis around, no ordinary moment ever stays ordinary for long.
