It was just another sunny morning when Monkey Lyly, full of energy as always, was out in the front yard exploring leaves, stones, and little bugs. Suddenly, a familiar neighbor approached the gate with a big grin and something wrapped in a cloth. “This is for Lyly!” the neighbor said, handing the bundle to her mother.
Lyly’s eyes lit up with curiosity. She eagerly pulled at the corners of the cloth, expecting a snack or maybe a toy. But to her surprise—inside was a strange-looking root! It was long, twisted, and oddly shaped with little bumps and arms that reminded her of a mini tree. Lyly tilted her head, poked it, sniffed it, and then gave a confused look to her mother.
“What is it, Mom?” she asked.
Her mother chuckled and explained, “It’s a rare medicinal root. One of your fans who saw your videos grows herbs and wanted to give this to us as a gift!”
Still unsure what to make of it, Lyly carefully held the root in both hands and wandered around the yard, showing it to her chickens and even holding it up to the dog as if asking, “What do you think this is?”
Her reactions were priceless—every expression from surprise to suspicion made her family laugh. She even tried pretending the root was a microphone, dancing and singing with it like she was performing for her fans. At one point, she stuck it behind her ear and called herself “Dr. Lyly.”
Later, Mom boiled part of the root to make a warm tea, and Lyly took a tiny sip, cautiously wrinkling her nose. “It’s… earthy!” she said with a giggle.
Though she didn’t fully understand the gift, Monkey Lyly’s heart was touched. She knew it came from someone who loved her, and that made it special. The root, now a prized item in her toy basket, became one of her favorite pretend-play props.
Sometimes, the most unexpected gifts leave the biggest smiles—and for Lyly, curiosity made the moment magical.
