Hot! Hot! Hot…! Monkey Lyly Can’t Go Shopping by Herself Because the Road Is Too Hot

It was a sunny afternoon, and Monkey Lyly was full of excitement. She had her little shopping bag ready, her favorite hat on, and a big plan in her mind — to go shopping all by herself just like a grown-up! But as she stepped outside, her tiny feet touched the pavement, and suddenly she stopped in her tracks.

“Hot! Hot! HOT!” Lyly yelped, lifting one foot at a time as she danced awkwardly on the scorching sidewalk. The summer sun had heated the ground so much that it felt like walking on lava! Poor Lyly looked around, completely confused. She had imagined a fun adventure with snacks, toys, and waving at neighbors — not a fiery foot workout!

She tried again, tiptoeing quickly to see if she could make it to the gate, but every step was followed by a dramatic jump and a loud squeal. Anyone watching would’ve burst out laughing at the sight of little Lyly doing a funny hop-dance, trying to escape the heat.

Her mom, hearing the commotion, rushed outside. When she saw Lyly’s exaggerated expression and the way she was standing frozen on one foot, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh no, the road is too hot for your tiny feet!” she said, quickly scooping Lyly up in her arms.

As they went back inside, Lyly clung to her mom, a little disappointed. “I just wanted to go shopping like you do,” she whispered. Her mom smiled and gently placed her on the cool tile floor. “Next time, we’ll wait until the sun is softer or wear your little sandals, okay?”

Lyly nodded and perked up instantly. They decided to turn the shopping adventure into a game at home, pretending to shop from the kitchen. With a basket full of pretend fruits and cookies, Monkey Lyly was happy again — and her feet were safe and cool!

Sometimes, even little plans need a bit of help from mom — and cooler weather!
