It was a bright and sunny afternoon, and Monkey Lyly had been peeking through the window all morning, waiting for her chance to go outside. The birds were chirping, the breeze was warm, and the sun lit up the backyard like a golden playground. As soon as the front door opened, Lyly rushed out with excitement, ready to explore, hop around, and maybe even chase a butterfly or two.

As soon as her little feet touched the road, she froze, jumped back with a loud squeak, and looked at her paws in shock. The ground was burning hot under the midday sun! Confused and clearly betrayed by what looked like a beautiful day, Lyly sat down, lifting her feet one by one, as if trying to figure out what had just happened.
“OMG… my feet are so hot!” she seemed to say with her wide eyes and twitching tail.
From the doorway, her mom couldn’t help but giggle at the sight. Lyly tried again, tiptoeing like a ballerina across the pavement, only to hop right back onto the cool tile of the porch.
Determined to still enjoy her time outside, Lyly started looking around for a solution. First, she tried walking on her hands (well… more like stumbling forward with her butt in the air). Then, she spotted a pair of flip-flops sitting by the door and attempted to drag one onto her foot, only to get stuck halfway through.
Eventually, Mom came to the rescue. She brought out a little towel and laid a path across the hot ground. Lyly, delighted, pranced across it like a royal monkey on a red carpet.
That day, Lyly didn’t get to explore much, but she did learn something new: even the prettiest days can have sneaky surprises. And Mom? She made sure Lyly had a cool spot under the shade, a frozen treat, and a story to laugh about for days to come.
