Morning sunlight filtered through the windows when Mom woke up feeling unusually tired. Her head felt heavy, her body weak, and even the smallest movements seemed exhausting. She tried to get up, but the moment she sat on the edge of the bed, CUTIS and the baby monkey, Cubis, rushed in as if they instantly sensed her discomfort.
CUTIS paused at the doorway, ears perked and eyes filled with concern. Cubis, on the other hand, hurried over with quick little steps and clung gently to Mom’s arm, letting out a soft worried chirp. Mom smiled weakly, giving him a reassuring pat, but the two weren’t fooled—something wasn’t right, and they were determined to help in their own special way.
CUTIS was the first to take action. He trotted off to the kitchen and returned proudly dragging a small towel. He placed it carefully beside Mom, as if offering her the world’s softest comfort. Meanwhile, Cubis climbed onto the bed, arranging Mom’s pillows with surprising seriousness. Each tug and push came with little grunts of effort, but he was determined to make her as comfortable as possible.
When Mom lay back down, Cubis nestled himself at her side, patting her arm with his tiny hand. CUTIS hopped up next, curling by her feet like a warm, furry blanket. Together, they made sure she felt surrounded by love.
Their teamwork didn’t stop there. CUTIS fetched Mom’s water bottle, gently nudging it toward her. Cubis copied him by grabbing the remote—though he accidentally pressed every button along the way, turning the TV on, off, and sideways before proudly handing it over.
Then came the sweetest moment. Cubis leaned forward and softly pressed his forehead to Mom’s cheek, offering what could only be described as a tiny monkey kiss. CUTIS followed with a gentle nuzzle, completing their heartfelt mission.
With her little caretakers snuggled close, Mom finally felt her strength returning—not because of medicine, but because of the unconditional love wrapped around her.
