How Filial! Monkey Lyly Was Hungry But Didn’t Eat the Dumpling for a Surprising Reason…

It was just past noon, and the warm aroma of freshly steamed dumplings filled the kitchen. Monkey Lyly had been playing all morning and was now clearly hungry — her little belly growled as she sniffed the delicious scent coming from the table. Her mother smiled and placed a plump, hot dumpling in front of her. “Here you go, Lyly. Your favorite!”

Lyly’s eyes widened with excitement. She leaned in closer, ready to take a bite. But just as she was about to pick it up, she paused. Her little fingers hovered in the air, and she glanced toward the doorway, her expression suddenly thoughtful.

“Mom…” she said softly, “Where’s grandma?”

Her mother, a bit surprised, replied, “Grandma’s still resting in her room. Why?”

Lyly looked at the dumpling again, then gently pushed the plate back. “I want to wait for grandma to eat with me. She always shares her dumpling with me… I want to share this one with her today.”

Her mom’s eyes softened, touched by Lyly’s unexpected gesture. Despite being visibly hungry, Lyly chose to wait, her small face filled with determination and care.

A few minutes later, grandma shuffled into the room, surprised to see Lyly sitting quietly with a single dumpling in front of her. “Lyly, why haven’t you eaten yet, sweetheart?” she asked.

Lyly smiled and picked up the dumpling, splitting it neatly in half. “Because I was waiting for you, Grandma. Let’s eat together!”

Everyone in the room melted at that moment. Lyly’s hunger had taken a backseat to her love and respect for her grandmother. It was such a simple act, yet so meaningful — showing that even a small child can have a big heart.

That day, the dumpling tasted better than ever, not because of its filling, but because of the love it was shared with.
