Monkey Lyly avoided the cameraman because she didn’t want him to touch her gift.

Monkey Lyly had been acting a little unusual all morning. Normally she loved attention and would leap right into the spotlight whenever the cameraman arrived, but today was different. Clutched tightly in her little hands was something very special—a gift she had found and decided to treasure. To Lyly, it wasn’t just an object. It was hers, and she wasn’t about to let anyone else lay a finger on it.

The cameraman, amused by her seriousness, tried to follow her around to capture a close-up. But Lyly was too clever. Each time he pointed the camera her way, she darted behind a tree, climbed higher into the branches, or tucked herself safely behind her mother. She peeked out with wide eyes, making sure her precious gift stayed hidden.

Her gift wasn’t shiny or expensive—it might have been a colorful ribbon, a flower, or even just a small trinket she had picked up. But to Lyly, it was priceless. She groomed it gently, sniffed at it, and hugged it close to her chest like it was the most important treasure in the world.

The cameraman laughed softly, raising his hands to show he meant no harm, but Lyly wasn’t convinced. She had seen him get close before, and the idea of him touching her gift made her anxious. She would rather skip the spotlight entirely than risk losing what she held dear.

Her mother, watching nearby, seemed to understand. She didn’t interfere, simply letting Lyly make her own choices. After all, part of growing up was learning to protect what mattered most to you.

Eventually, Lyly settled high up on a branch, her gift safe in her grasp, while the cameraman stayed at a respectful distance. The footage he captured wasn’t of a mischievous monkey playing for the camera, but of a determined little soul protecting something that had captured her heart.

And in that moment, Lyly showed that sometimes the sweetest stories aren’t about what’s on display, but about the love and care we give to the things we hold close.
