A Dog’s Last Will

I see that my time has come, and though my tail may stop wagging, my love for you never will. If I could write, this is what I’d say:

To my beloved humans,

I leave you all my squeaky toys—even the ones you thought were lost forever under the couch or buried in the yard. I hope you find them and smile. May they someday bring joy to another pup, just like they brought joy to me.

I leave you my bed, even though it’s a little worn and chewed around the edges. It was my comfort zone, my favorite nap spot after long walks and belly rubs. I hope you pass it on to another furry soul who needs a place to feel safe and loved.

I leave you my leash, collar, and food bowl. They might just look like old belongings, but to me, they carried the stories of our many adventures. Every walk we took, every meal you gave me, every time I jumped with excitement at the sound of your voice—those moments live in those simple things.

Most of all, I leave you my love. The kind that never fades. The kind that watched over you on your bad days and danced with you through the good ones. You were my whole world, and you gave me the best life I could have ever hoped for. I want you to know I felt loved every single day.

Please don’t cry too long. I know the house will feel quiet without me, and the floor may feel a little too clean without my fur on it. But remember the laughter, the cuddles, and the silly things I did that made you smile. Remember how I always knew when you needed a friend.

When the time feels right, let your heart open again. Another dog will come—not to replace me, but to remind you that love still lives in wagging tails and happy barks. Give them what you gave me: a home, a family, and all your heart.

With a final tail wag and a forever faithful heart,
Every Dog Who Ever Loved You

🐾 Forever in your memories. Forever in your heart. 🐾
