Lyly was a curious little monkey with bright eyes and a love for adventure. She had just moved to a new sanctuary deep in the jungle, filled with towering trees, sparkling streams, and other animals she’d never met before. Everything was new and exciting—and Lyly couldn’t wait to explore.
Early one morning, while the other monkeys were still waking up, Lyly slipped away from her sleeping spot. She climbed trees, swung from vines, and chased colorful butterflies. The deeper she went into the forest, the more she discovered. But as she wandered farther, Lyly began to notice that nothing looked familiar. She had taken too many turns and couldn’t find her way back.
Suddenly, the ground beneath her paws gave way, and she slipped down a muddy slope into a small pit. Trapped and frightened, Lyly let out a series of sharp cries. No one answered. Hours passed. The sky darkened, and Lyly curled up, cold and scared. “What’s happening to me?” she whispered, tears in her eyes.
Back at the sanctuary, the other monkeys had realized she was missing. Caretakers and fellow monkeys began to search for her, calling her name. Luckily, one of the older monkeys, Koro, heard a faint sound coming from the pit. He rushed over, and soon the humans arrived with ropes and flashlights.
With gentle hands, they lifted Lyly out of the hole. She clung to Koro, shaking but safe. Back in her nest that night, Lyly snuggled close to her new family, grateful to be home.
From that day on, Lyly still explored—but never alone. She had learned that adventure is exciting, but being safe and sticking with loved ones is just as important. And every time she looked up at the trees, she smiled, remembering the day she got lost—and found.
