Sad to say this. Chooch is now gone but Cici remains completely lost.
Chooch has crossed the rainbow bridge, and with his passing, a deep silence has fallen over the home he once filled with boundless love and joy. It’s hard to find the words, because Chooch wasn’t “just a dog.” He was family. He was Eddie’s child, his best friend, his shadow. And while Eddie grieves with a broken heart, the pain is doubled by watching Cici, who now wanders through her days confused and heartbroken, searching for her brother, her comfort, her whole world.
Cici and Chooch shared a bond that was beyond words. Wherever Chooch went, Cici followed. He was her calm in the storm, her protector, her playmate, and her peace. Now that he’s gone, she’s lost—physically, emotionally, spiritually. Her eyes don’t shine the same, and her tail doesn’t wag with the joy it once did. It’s devastating to witness, and even harder for Eddie, who must carry his own grief while now gently guiding Cici through hers.
Eddie has always been a pillar of love and strength for his dogs, and now he faces the heartbreaking task of helping Cici navigate life without her soulmate. It means redesigning everything—her routine, her training, her sources of comfort. It means holding her close when she whimpers at night and reminding her she’s still deeply loved, even when her heart is aching.
But in all this pain, there’s one truth that shines: Cici still has Eddie. And Eddie, though grieving, still has Cici. Together, they will heal—slowly, tenderly. And we, as a community who loved Chooch from near or far, must keep our love for Cici alive. Let’s not turn the page, but rather write a new chapter full of care and gentleness for her.
Chooch will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in every pawprint, every cuddle, every tear and every moment of peace. We honor him by loving Cici even more fiercely now.
