Monkey Lyly Was Disappointed Because Her Mother Ate the Ice Cream Without Giving Her Any

It was a hot afternoon, and little Monkey Lyly was lying lazily on the porch, hoping for something sweet and cold to make the day better. Her ears perked up when she heard the familiar sound of the freezer opening. Peeking around the corner, Lyly spotted her mother pulling out a bright pink tub of strawberry ice cream.

Her eyes lit up with excitement. Ice cream was Lyly’s favorite treat, and strawberry was her favorite flavor. She rushed over, her little feet tapping quickly on the floor, and sat beside her mother with hopeful eyes. But to her surprise, her mother didn’t seem to notice her waiting.

Instead, Lyly watched in disbelief as her mother sat down and began to eat the ice cream all by herself. Spoonful after spoonful disappeared into her mother’s mouth while Lyly sat frozen, staring at the melting treasure she so badly wanted.

Lyly pouted. Her tail drooped. She crossed her arms and let out a tiny sigh, trying to stay quiet so her mother would finally notice her. But the moment never came.

Feeling hurt and confused, Lyly slowly walked away and sat under the table. She didn’t cry, but her disappointment was written all over her face. A few minutes later, her mother looked around and noticed that Lyly was gone. She finally realized what had happened.

“Oh no,” she said softly, putting down the empty tub. She walked over and found Lyly sitting quietly, looking down.

“Lyly, I’m so sorry,” her mother said gently. “I didn’t mean to eat it all. I didn’t even realize you were waiting.”

Lyly looked up with teary eyes, and to her surprise, her mother held out a new tub of ice cream she had hidden for later.

“Let’s share this one,” she said with a smile.

Lyly’s face lit up again. All was forgiven—with a spoon in hand and a full heart.
