Cubis had been planning this special day for weeks. He missed his best friend Luk terribly, and he wanted to surprise him with something peaceful, warm, and full of friendship. So early one morning, while the sun was still stretching over the horizon, Cubis grabbed his tiny woven basket and rushed to Luk’s place. He tapped excitedly on the door, his tail swishing back and forth.
When Luk opened it, Cubis grinned from ear to ear. “Luk! Come with me! I’m taking you for countryside coffee!” Luk blinked in surprise but couldn’t resist Cubis’s enthusiasm. Within minutes, the two friends were on a small motorbike—Cubis riding proudly in the front basket—and heading toward the quiet fields outside town.
The countryside was peaceful, wrapped in soft morning mist. Birds sang from the treetops, and the smell of fresh grass carried through the air. Cubis pointed eagerly toward a small wooden hut by a pond. “That’s our café!” he chattered. Luk laughed, realizing Cubis had created his very own outdoor coffee spot.
Cubis unpacked his basket with great ceremony: a tiny kettle, a small cup, Luk’s favorite instant coffee, and a handful of biscuits. He even brought a mini stool just for himself. While Luk prepared the boiling water, Cubis watched proudly, tail curling happily around his seat.
When the coffee was ready, Cubis tapped Luk’s arm and handed him the cup with both hands, as if offering the most precious gift in the world. Luk took a sip, letting the warmth spread through him. “This is perfect,” he said. Cubis nodded firmly—he knew it would be.
The two sat quietly for a moment, listening to frogs croak and leaves rustle in the gentle breeze. Cubis dipped a biscuit into his tiny cup of warm milk, munching thoughtfully. Then he rested his head on Luk’s shoulder—something he only did when he felt completely safe.
“Luk,” Cubis whispered, “we should do this every week.”
Luk smiled and wrapped an arm around him. “Yes, Cubis. Every week.”
And so, a simple countryside coffee became a cherished ritual—one cup of peace, friendship, and love shared under the open sky.
