This morning started like any other—sunlight pouring through the window, birds singing, and Lala wagging her tail happily as Dad prepared for work. She thought they were going out together like usual, maybe to the park or for a drive. But when Dad grabbed his bag and headed for the door, Lala noticed something strange—he didn’t put on her leash.
Her ears perked up as she followed him to the gate, tail swishing uncertainly. “Wait… what about me?” her eyes seemed to say. Dad turned around, gave her a quick pat on the head, and whispered, “Be a good girl, Lala. I’ll be back soon.” Then the door closed.
The sound of the car engine faded, leaving behind an aching silence. Lala stared at the door for a long time, waiting for it to open again. She whined softly, then circled around her bed, unsure what to do. Minutes turned into hours. She sniffed Dad’s slippers and lay down beside them, her nose pressed to the familiar scent.
At first, she was angry—how could he leave her alone? She barked at the window, as if calling him back. But when no one answered, her energy melted into sadness. Her food bowl sat untouched. The toys that usually made her happy didn’t seem fun anymore. She lay curled up near the door, her eyes drooping but always watching, just in case.
Finally, as the evening light turned golden, she heard it—the sound of footsteps! The door creaked open, and there he was. Lala jumped up, tail wagging wildly, but her feelings were still mixed. She barked once as if to scold him, then buried her head in his lap, forgiving him instantly.
Dad laughed softly and hugged her tight. “I missed you too, Lala,” he said. In that moment, her sadness vanished. She wasn’t angry anymore—just happy that her favorite person was finally home. ❤️
