It was a peaceful afternoon, and Auntie had just finished making her favorite lunch—steamed rice, stir-fried veggies, and a crispy tofu dish with sweet chili sauce. She placed the plate carefully on the table and stepped away to grab a drink. What she didn’t realize was that a little furry thief had been watching her every move.
Enter: Cubis, the mischievous monkey with the biggest eyes and the hungriest tummy.
The moment Auntie turned her back, Cubis tiptoed across the floor like a ninja in training. His little tail curled with excitement as he climbed the chair, eyes locked on that golden tofu. He sniffed the plate, made sure no one was looking, and with a lightning-quick swipe—POOF! A chunk of tofu vanished into his mouth.
He froze. His eyes darted toward the kitchen. No footsteps. No sound. Success!
But Cubis didn’t stop there. Emboldened by his first bite, he reached for a piece of rice, then grabbed a cucumber slice. Soon, the once-beautiful plate looked like it had survived a food tornado.
Just as Cubis was about to take one last bite, Auntie returned—with wide eyes and a very surprised look. “Cubis!” she gasped, hands on her hips. “Are you stealing my lunch?”
Cubis froze mid-bite, cheeks puffed full, and looked up with the most innocent, guilty face ever. His eyes sparkled with fake confusion, as if saying, “Food? What food?”
Auntie couldn’t help but laugh. “You little rascal!” she said, scooping him up as he squeaked with playful delight. She gave him a piece of banana as a peace offering, while she fixed herself another plate.
From that day on, Auntie learned to guard her meals a little better—but deep down, she didn’t mind sharing a few bites with her adorable food thief.
Because nothing says “I love you” like stolen tofu and monkey giggles.
