Cubis, the little monkey with big curious eyes and a fluffy golden coat, woke up to the sounds of morning—pots clanking, birds chirping, and Dad humming happily as he got ready. Today was a very special day. Cubis was going to the market with Dad all by himself for the very first time!
Dad tightened Cubis’s tiny vest and handed him a small woven bag. “We are buying bananas, vegetables, and a special snack for Mom,” Dad said. Cubis saluted proudly as if he were on a grand mission. He was determined to behave perfectly.
As they walked down the street, Cubis held Dad’s hand tightly. Every passing scooter and vendor caught his attention, but he remembered his promise—be obedient. When they reached the bustling market, colorful stalls lined the way. The smell of fresh fruit filled the air, and Cubis’s tail swayed with excitement.
At the fruit stand, Cubis helped Dad pick the best bananas—yellow and sweet, just the way Mom liked them. He carefully placed each bunch in the bag, resisting the urge to take a tiny nibble. The vendor smiled at his good manners and gave him a tiny grape as a reward. Cubis bowed politely before eating it—delicious!
Then they visited the vegetable stall. Cubis held Dad’s list and checked off cucumbers, carrots, and leafy greens. Crowds pushed and moved around them, but Cubis stayed close like a responsible helper.
Dad couldn’t have been more proud.
The final stop was the snack cart. The moment Cubis spotted the golden fried rice cakes, his eyes sparkled. Dad laughed and bought two—one for Cubis and one for Mom. Cubis waited patiently, clutching his treat until they were home. Not one bite before!
As they walked back, Dad lifted Cubis up and spun him gently. “You were such a good helper today!”
Cubis giggled, his heart puffing up with joy. He loved exploring the world—but he loved making Dad proud even more.
Back home, Mom cheered when she saw the full bag of groceries and Cubis’s excited grin. “Our little monkey is growing up!”
