Monkey Lyly Sneaked Over to the Neighbor’s House When It Was Raining and Then…

The morning sky turned gray as heavy rain poured down on the quiet village. Monkey Lyly pressed her face against the window, watching raindrops race each other down the glass. She loved rainy days—especially when she felt adventurous. Today, curiosity got the better of her. Across the yard, she noticed the neighbor’s house with its bright red door slightly open. What mysteries could be hiding inside?

Without telling Mom, Lyly grabbed her tiny yellow raincoat and slipped out the back door. She hopped over puddles, her little boots splashing water everywhere. The cool rain soaked her fur, but she giggled and continued her mission. Reaching the neighbor’s porch, she peeked inside—no one seemed to be around.

Lyly tiptoed in, her heart pounding with excitement. The house smelled like fresh fruit and cookies. She followed the delicious scent into the kitchen where she found a plate of bananas sitting on the table. Her eyes widened—Lyly loved bananas more than anything! She picked one up and took a big bite. “Yummy!” she whispered happily.

Just then—a loud bark echoed through the house! Out from behind the couch came the neighbor’s big dog, Bruno, shaking his wet fur and staring straight at her. Lyly froze, banana still in hand. Bruno wasn’t angry though—he wagged his tail and nudged her playfully. Lyly sighed in relief and giggled, offering him a tiny piece of banana. They quickly became rainy-day friends.

But the sound of rushing footsteps shattered the moment. The neighbor lady appeared, shocked to see Lyly standing in her kitchen like a tiny, soggy burglar. “Oh my! What are you doing here all alone in the rain?” she gasped.

Instead of scolding her, the neighbor wrapped Lyly in a warm towel and gave her a comforting hug. She called Lyly’s mom to let her know where the curious little monkey had wandered off to.

When Mom arrived, drenched from rushing over, she pulled Lyly tight into her arms. “You scared me!” she said, but with a loving smile. Lyly apologized softly, promising never to sneak off again.

Even though her adventure ended with a lesson, Lyly couldn’t help but smile—she had made a new furry friend… and enjoyed a delicious banana on the way!
