It was a peaceful afternoon when Lala went out to the garden to feed her animal friends. She carried a small basket of corn, humming softly as she scattered the grains near the pond. But suddenly, her cheerful tune stopped. Near the edge of the water, Lala saw her favorite duck, Dodo, lying still with one wing awkwardly bent.
“Dodo!” Lala cried, running over. The duck let out a faint quack, its eyes blinking weakly. Lala’s heart raced in panic. She carefully knelt down, afraid to hurt him more. “Oh no, what happened to you?” she whispered, gently touching the injured wing. It was clear Dodo couldn’t move properly. Lala could feel tears forming as she imagined how much pain he must be in.
Without wasting a second, Lala picked Dodo up carefully, wrapping him in her soft scarf. “Don’t worry, Dodo, I’ll get Mom. She’ll help you,” she said firmly, even though her voice trembled. She ran back home, calling out, “Mom! Mom! Dodo’s hurt!”
Her mother rushed out, seeing the frightened look on Lala’s face and the trembling duck in her arms. “Let me see,” Mom said calmly, taking the duck to the table. She examined the wing gently. “It looks like he might have gotten caught on a fence or a sharp branch,” Mom explained. “But don’t worry, we can treat him.”
Lala watched anxiously as Mom cleaned the wound, applied ointment, and wrapped the wing in a soft bandage. Dodo stayed quiet, as if he knew they were helping him. “He’ll need to rest for a few days,” Mom said with a reassuring smile.
Lala nodded, determined. “I’ll take care of him every day,” she promised, setting up a cozy basket near her bed. That night, she whispered to Dodo, “You’ll be flying again soon, I promise.”
Under the warm light, Lala gently stroked his feathers, feeling relieved. The fear in her heart had turned into hope — because love, care, and kindness could heal even the smallest, most fragile lives.
