Monkey Lyly struggled to fall back asleep to the noise of the alarm clock

It was still early in the morning, and the sky outside was only beginning to turn light pink. Monkey Lyly was curled up under her soft blanket, dreaming happily about a mountain made of bananas. Everything was peaceful—until suddenly, RING! RING! RING! The loud alarm clock exploded with sound beside her bed.

Lyly’s eyes flew open in shock. Her little ears twitched, and she groaned softly, “Oh no… not again!” She reached out with one sleepy hand and tried to press the button, but the alarm clock kept ringing and ringing, echoing through the whole room.

“Just five more minutes…” she whispered, burying her face under the blanket. But the noise wouldn’t stop. It was as if the clock had decided to battle her sleepiness! Finally, she sat up, her fur all messy, and glared at the noisy clock. “Why do you hate me?” she mumbled.

After what felt like forever, the alarm finally went silent. Lyly sighed with relief and snuggled back into her blanket. But just as she started to drift off again, a bird outside began chirping loudly. Then came the sound of Mom’s footsteps in the kitchen and the clatter of dishes.

Lyly groaned, rolling around in bed. “How can anyone sleep with all this noise?” she muttered dramatically. She covered her ears with her pillow, tried different sleeping positions, and even counted bananas instead of sheep—but nothing worked.

Finally, Mom peeked into the room and giggled. “Good morning, sleepyhead! Time to get up!” she said cheerfully. Lyly sat up, pouting. “Mom, the alarm clock was so mean to me! It woke me up too early!”

Mom laughed and handed her a warm cup of milk. “That’s what alarm clocks do, sweetheart. It’s time to start the day.”

Lyly took a sip, still half-asleep, and mumbled, “Tomorrow, I’m hiding that clock.”

Even though she lost the battle with the alarm clock that morning, her sleepy grumbles made Mom smile—and soon, Lyly was laughing too, ready to start another fun day.
