The morning started out just like any other, but Cubis couldn’t shake off the nervous feeling in his stomach. Today was the day of his hospital check-up, and even though everyone reassured him it would be quick and easy, he couldn’t help but worry. The thought of doctors, white coats, and medical equipment made his heart race.
On the way to the hospital, Cubis sat quietly, clutching his favorite toy in his hands. He looked out the window, trying to distract himself by counting cars and trees, but his mind kept wandering back to the check-up. “What if it hurts? What if something’s wrong?” he thought, his little face tense with concern.
When they arrived, the tall building with its bright lights and busy hallways made him feel even smaller. The sound of footsteps, the beeping machines, and the sight of other patients all added to his unease. Cubis held tightly to Dad’s hand, his eyes wide as they walked toward the waiting area.
But soon, things weren’t as scary as he imagined. The nurse greeted him with a warm smile, speaking softly and kindly. She even offered him a sticker and told him he was very brave. The doctor explained every step gently, showing Cubis the stethoscope and letting him listen to his own heartbeat. Slowly, his fear began to fade, replaced by curiosity.
By the time the check-up was over, Cubis realized it hadn’t been nearly as frightening as he thought. There were no big surprises, no pain—just simple steps to make sure he was healthy and strong. Relief washed over him as the doctor gave him a clean bill of health.
Walking out of the hospital, Cubis felt lighter, even a little proud. He had faced his fear and discovered it wasn’t so bad after all. With a smile and his sticker proudly stuck on his shirt, he knew that next time, he wouldn’t be nearly as worried.
