Cubis Monkey is usually a bundle of playful energy, swinging from chair to chair and finding joy in the smallest things. But one morning, something unusual happened that left him feeling very anxious about Dad.
It started when Dad accidentally dropped his phone under the couch. He reached down and stretched his arm, muttering in frustration as he tried to pull it out. To Cubis, though, this looked completely different. His little monkey brain translated Dad’s groans and struggling as a sign that something terrible was happening. His eyes widened, and he froze for a moment, watching carefully. Then, in a rush of panic, Cubis scrambled over, tugging at Dad’s arm with tiny hands, chattering loudly as if to say, “Dad, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?!”
Dad laughed when he realized Cubis was worried, but the monkey wasn’t convinced. He leapt around, pointing toward the door as though he was ready to call for help. His tail swished nervously, and his little face showed so much concern it could melt anyone’s heart.
Finally, Dad pulled out the phone with a victorious, “Got it!” But Cubis was still pacing. He reached up, touching Dad’s cheek gently, tilting his head as if double-checking. Only after Dad gave him a reassuring smile and a scratch on the back did Cubis relax. He clung to Dad’s shoulder, letting out a soft coo as if to say, “Don’t scare me like that again.”
That moment showed just how deep Cubis’s bond with Dad really was. For such a playful little monkey, his protective instincts shined bright. He may not understand everything that happens, but he knows one thing for sure—he never wants anything bad to happen to his dad.
And so, the rest of the day, Cubis stuck close, keeping an extra watchful eye. Trouble or not, he was determined to be Dad’s little guardian.
