Life has a way of testing us with stillness. At first, sitting still feels safe. No risks, no failures, no mistakes. But staying stagnant too long is where the danger creeps in. It’s like water in a pond—when it doesn’t flow, it grows murky. Our minds, dreams, and energy can do the same when we refuse to move.
I’ve been there before—stuck in the comfort of routine, too hesitant to try something new. I convinced myself that staying put was protecting me, but really, it was holding me back. The truth is, progress requires movement. Even if the steps are small, they’re still steps forward.
That’s why I love the phrase, “stick and move.” If you’ve ever watched boxing, you know a fighter can’t just stand still. They need rhythm, footwork, and timing to survive and win. Life works the same way. You take a hit, you adjust. You land a strike, you keep moving. The point isn’t to stay perfect—it’s to stay in motion.
When challenges hit hard, it’s tempting to freeze up and sit in the pain. But sitting in it too long turns a moment into a permanent place. The goal is to acknowledge what happened, learn from it, and then—stick and move. That movement might mean shifting your mindset, leaving behind an old environment, or simply getting up and trying again tomorrow.
Growth doesn’t happen in stagnation—it happens in motion. Progress is messy, imperfect, and sometimes exhausting, but it’s always worth it.
So if you’re in a season where you feel stuck, remember: you don’t have to leap mountains in one day. Just take one step. Make one choice. Try one thing. That’s all it takes to break the stillness.
Don’t sit in it. Stick and move. Life rewards motion.
