Monkey Lyly is disappointed that she can’t go buy snacks and the surprise her mother makes for her.

It was a sunny afternoon when little Monkey Lyly tugged at her mother’s hand, eyes sparkling with excitement. She had one mission in mind: a trip to the market to buy her favorite snacks. Lyly could already imagine the crunchy treats and sweet goodies waiting for her.

But when Mom gently shook her head and said, “Not today, Lyly. We can’t go out,” the little monkey’s face dropped instantly. Her shoulders slumped, her lips pouted, and she let out the tiniest sigh. Disappointment filled her big, curious eyes. She sat by the window, gazing outside at the road that usually led to the market, as if hoping her mother would change her mind.

Mom watched quietly, smiling to herself. She knew how much Lyly loved her snacks, and she didn’t want the day to end in tears. So, she came up with a plan—a little surprise that would turn Lyly’s frown into the biggest smile.

While Lyly sulked, Mom went into the kitchen and gathered a few simple ingredients. She began mixing, stirring, and cooking, her hands moving quickly as delicious smells began to fill the house. Lyly sniffed the air curiously, her ears twitching. She peeked into the kitchen, her frown slowly lifting. “What’s that, Mom?” she asked.

“Just wait and see,” Mom replied with a wink.

Finally, Mom brought out a plate filled with warm, homemade treats—crispy little bites, sweetened with honey and sprinkled with coconut, just like the snacks Lyly loved from the market. Lyly’s eyes widened in delight. She hopped up and clapped her hands, her disappointment instantly forgotten.

“Mom! You made snacks just for me?!” she squealed. She took a bite and let out a happy giggle. “These are even better than the ones at the market!”

Mom laughed, wrapping her arms around her little monkey. “See, Lyly? Sometimes the best surprises are the ones we make at home.”

That day, Lyly learned that while she couldn’t always get what she wanted, her mother’s love had a way of turning every disappointment into something sweet.
