How it started…

When CiCi first met Chooch, it was behind the silver chain-link gate in the driveway. CiCi, with her big, curious eyes and wagging tail, stood on her hind legs to greet the newcomer. Chooch, slightly more reserved, peeked from behind, unsure if this new friendship would mean extra fun… or extra competition.

It was a cautious start. They circled each other like little detectives, sniffing, observing, and silently deciding what kind of relationship this would be. CiCi seemed ready to jump straight into playtime, while Chooch took a moment to size her up—after all, sharing space (and maybe treats) was a big deal.

The first few days were an adjustment. CiCi, full of boundless energy, wanted to wrestle, chase, and explore every inch of the yard. Chooch, on the other hand, liked his moments of calm and wasn’t thrilled about having to share his favorite sunny spot. There were a few standoffs over toys and the occasional grumpy growl during mealtime, but nothing they couldn’t work through.

Then came the breakthrough moment: a shared game of tug-of-war. What started as a test of strength turned into laughter—well, tail wags and play bows, which are basically doggy laughter. From that day on, the tension melted away.

Soon, they became inseparable. They raced each other around the yard, shared the same water bowl, and even napped side-by-side after exhausting play sessions. Chooch began to enjoy CiCi’s enthusiasm, while CiCi learned to appreciate Chooch’s calmer, thoughtful side.

Looking back now, it’s hard to believe they ever needed time to adjust. That first meeting at the gate feels like a lifetime ago.

How it started: two cautious dogs separated by a fence, unsure of what came next.
How it’s going: two best friends who can’t imagine a day without each other.

And if you happen to walk by the yard now, you’ll see them—side by side at the gate—waiting to greet you with wagging tails, as if to say, “This is our home, and we run it together.”
