Monkey Lyly was always a curious little one, especially when it came to food. If something was colorful, crunchy, or smelled interesting, you could count on her to sneak a bite. So when she saw her mother munching on a bright red bag of chips, her eyes lit up with excitement.
While her mom stepped away for a moment, Lyly couldn’t resist. She reached into the bag with her tiny hands and grabbed a chip. “Mmm!” she thought, crunching it between her teeth. But her excitement quickly turned into disaster. Within seconds, her eyes widened, her nose twitched, and her mouth hung open in horror. It was SPICY!
She froze in place, blinking fast, then started fanning her tongue with both hands. “Hot! Hot! HOT!” she squealed, running in circles like a little firecracker. Her mother returned just in time to see Lyly leaping around, cheeks puffed, tongue out, eyes watering.
“Lyly! Did you eat my spicy chips?” her mother gasped.
Lyly could only nod while pointing desperately at her mouth. Her mom couldn’t help but laugh as she grabbed the water jug and handed Lyly a big cup. Lyly gulped it down in one go… then another… and another! She drank so much water she looked like a little water balloon by the end of it, sitting on the floor with her round belly and a wide, relieved smile.
“I thought they were sweet chips,” Lyly mumbled, hiccupping slightly.
“Well, that’s why we ask before eating,” her mother chuckled, wiping her face gently. “Those chips are for grown monkeys!”
After the spicy incident, Lyly learned her lesson—always sniff first, and maybe ask mom before sneaking a bite. The whole family laughed about it for days, and Lyly earned a new nickname: “Chili Lyly.”
Even now, whenever someone brings out a bag of chips, Lyly holds up her hand and says, “Is it spicy? Because I’ve had enough heat for a lifetime!” 🌶️💦🐵
