There’s something magical about a beach day, but when you add Chooch to the mix, it becomes unforgettable. As soon as we stepped onto the warm sand, his eyes lit up like it was the first time he had ever seen the ocean — even though he’s been there before. The way he bounded forward, ears flopping, tail wagging like crazy, you’d think the waves were calling his name.
We set up our little spot with a blanket, an umbrella, and, of course, a cooler full of snacks (mostly for me — Chooch had his special treats). But he didn’t care about sitting still. He was on a mission to sniff every seashell, chase every seagull, and leave his tiny paw prints on as much shoreline as possible. Every so often, he’d run back to me, tongue out, eyes sparkling, as if to say, “Are you seeing this?!”
Watching him dig furiously in the sand, roll around, and bark at the waves like they were teasing him — it filled me with so much joy. We splashed around in the shallow water, and even though he’s not the best swimmer, Chooch paddled with so much heart you’d think he was crossing an ocean.
After all that excitement, he finally curled up next to me, sandy and satisfied, as the sun began to dip behind the horizon. I scratched behind his ears while we watched the waves roll in and out, and he rested his head on my leg like he always does when he’s fully content.
There’s no one like Chooch. A simple beach day with him reminds me that happiness lives in the little moments — a wet nose, sandy paws, and a heart full of love. I’ll never forget today. It wasn’t just a beach day. It was our day. ❤️🌊🐾
