Monkey Lyly is known for having a mind of her own. Sweet, playful, and full of personality—but oh, so stubborn! When it comes to nap time, she doesn’t want a cozy bed, soft blanket, or even a comfy pillow. Nope. Lyly insists on choosing her nap spot, and nobody—not even Mom—can tell her otherwise.
One sunny afternoon, Lyly was feeling especially sleepy after a busy morning of climbing shelves, sneaking snacks, and rearranging Mom’s shoes. Mom gently called out, “Lyly, come nap in your bed,” pointing to the soft corner with her favorite stuffed toys. But Lyly had other ideas.
She scanned the room, narrowed her eyes, and proudly marched over to the laundry basket. “No, no, Lyly,” Mom laughed. “Not in there!” But Lyly was already nesting in the freshly folded clothes, wiggling herself into a perfect little monkey curl. She yawned dramatically, as if to say, “This is MY royal bed now.”
And just as she drifted off into monkey dreamland, the surprise came…
ACHOO! Lyly sneezed herself awake! The laundry detergent must’ve tickled her little nose. She looked around, dazed and confused, blinking sleepily. Then came a second achoo!—louder this time. Her nap spot had betrayed her!
Still, she refused to admit defeat. She tried shifting positions. She tried burying her face deeper into a T-shirt. But the sneezes kept coming. With one final exaggerated huff, Lyly stood up, groggy and grumpy, and dragged her blanket all the way to her real bed.
Mom just watched, trying not to laugh.
Eventually, Lyly curled up in her rightful napping spot, tail tucked, thumb in her mouth, and eyes slowly closing. Within minutes, she was out cold—snoring softly like a little angel.
The laundry basket may have lost the battle, but Lyly learned something important that day (well… maybe): sometimes, Mom really does know best—even when it comes to nap spots!
A stubborn monkey with a sleepy heart—Monkey Lyly’s nap adventures are always full of surprises and giggles.
