CEO Kien was in the middle of a high-stakes meeting, surrounded by executives and investors, when his phone vibrated with an urgent message. He usually ignored calls during business hours—but this one made his heart drop.
“Lala’s eyes… something’s wrong. She can’t open them. She’s crying nonstop.”
He didn’t wait. Without a word, he stood up, grabbed his coat, and walked out of the room, shocking everyone. His assistant hurried after him, but Kien had only one thing on his mind—Lala.
Lala wasn’t just a pet. She was family. Ever since he rescued her as a tiny kitten, she had been his constant companion—curled on his lap during late-night work, purring beside him during quiet weekends. Her soft gaze and playful antics were the only thing that ever truly relaxed him.
As soon as he got home, he rushed inside, calling out, “Lala? Where’s Lala?”
He found her in a dim room, lying in her little bed, her paws covering her face. She whimpered softly, clearly in pain. Her eyes were red, swollen, and barely open. The sight broke Kien’s heart.
“I’m here now, baby. Daddy’s here,” he whispered, gently lifting her into his arms. She let out a weak meow, but didn’t resist. That was how he knew it was serious—Lala never let anyone carry her unless she felt safe.
Within minutes, Kien was at the animal hospital, holding her closely in the waiting room. The vet examined her and explained she had a severe eye infection, likely caused by irritation or allergies—but with immediate treatment, she would recover.
Relief washed over him. He held her gently as she got her medication, whispering promises and soft reassurances.
Kien returned home that night, not as a CEO, but simply as a father who loved his little girl more than anything. No deal, no title, no business mattered more than Lala’s health. And that night, as she slept peacefully beside him, he knew—he’d always drop everything for her.
