This morning, Cubis the monkey had a very specific mission: he wanted to go to the coffee shop like the grown-ups do. At the coffee shop, he stepped up to the counter and stood on his tiptoes. “One banana smoothie, please!” he announced proudly. The barista was charmed, smiling as they prepared his drink extra carefully.
Cubis waited patiently, peeking over the counter, humming a little song. When he finally got his cup—with a straw and everything—he sat at a corner table, sipping slowly like a proper gentleman. He even shared a few sips with Aunt and offered her a piece of his cookie.
“Best two dollars I ever spent,” Aunt said, smiling.
