Cubis Was Sad When He Couldn’t Find His Aunt!

Cubis the monkey woke up with excitement in his heart and a big plan for the day—he was going to surprise his Auntie with a big hug and one of his favorite bananas! He’d been waiting all week for her visit. She always brought him little gifts, taught him new games, and sang the silliest songs that made him laugh until he rolled on the floor. Auntie was one of Cubis’s favorite people in the world.

But today… something felt different.

Cubis searched the whole house. He checked the kitchen—no Auntie. He peeked into the living room, even looked behind the couch where she used to hide during hide-and-seek. Nothing. He climbed up to the window and looked out, hoping to see her walking up the path. Still nothing. His little face dropped.

“Mom… where’s Auntie?” he asked, his voice small and shaky.

Mom knelt down and gently explained, “Auntie had something important come up, sweetie. She couldn’t make it today. But she’ll visit soon, I promise.”

Cubis nodded, but his heart sank. He sat quietly in the corner of the room, hugging his banana and looking at the door as if it might magically open at any moment. His ears drooped, and he didn’t feel like playing anymore.

Mom sat beside him and wrapped him in a warm hug. “It’s okay to feel sad,” she said softly. “I know how much you miss her.”

To cheer him up, they looked through old photos of Auntie and Cubis—laughing, playing, sharing treats. Slowly, a small smile crept back onto his face. Then Mom had an idea: “Why don’t we make a little video to send to Auntie? That way she knows you’re thinking of her!”

Cubis lit up. They made a sweet video message with Cubis waving and saying, “I miss you, Auntie! I saved you a banana!”

Later that evening, Auntie sent a message back with a promise: “I’ll be there soon, my little monkey. Just wait for me!”

Cubis hugged his banana tight and whispered, “I’ll wait, Auntie. I’ll wait.”
