It was early morning, and the house was still quiet. The sun had just begun to peek through the curtains, birds were chirping outsideâand Cubis the monkey was wide awake and ready to start his day. There was just one problem⌠Dad was still snoring away like a bear in hibernation.
Cubis, being the curious and mischievous monkey he is, decided it was his duty to wake Dad up. And, of course, he wasnât going to do it the normal way. Oh no. Cubis had his own style.
First, he tried the gentle approach. He tiptoed (as much as a monkey can tiptoe) up to Dadâs face and gave a few soft pokes to the cheek. Nothing. Just a louder snore. So Cubis leaned in and gave Dadâs nose a tiny lick. Still no reaction.
Thatâs when the real fun began.
Cubis jumped on the bed and started bouncingâlightly at first, then full trampoline mode. Pillows flew everywhere. He accidentally launched Dadâs phone off the nightstand. Still, Dad groaned and rolled over, completely unaware of the chaos around him.
Undeterred, Cubis went for the ultimate move: he grabbed Dadâs socks and tossed them one by one into Dadâs face. The second sock landed right on his forehead. Dad let out a muffled âWhat theââ but still didnât open his eyes.
Finally, Cubis climbed onto Dadâs chest, stared him directly in the face, and let out a loud, dramatic squeal followed by a happy monkey giggle. That did the trick.
Dadâs eyes flew open, startled, only to find Cubis grinning proudly, tail wagging like a puppy. âCubis!â Dad laughed, half-awake. âYou couldnât let me sleep just one more hour?â
Cubis responded by placing a banana in Dadâs handâhis version of an apology and breakfast in bed.
It was chaotic, funny, and absolutely Cubis. And deep down, Dad wouldnât have it any other way.
