From the very beginning, Chooch found comfort, love, and family at Ally’s house. She and her husband didn’t just open their home to him—they opened their hearts. Over the years, they spoiled him in the most beautiful way, with affection, patience, treats, and gentle care that only true animal lovers can give. Whether it was for a quick visit or an extended stay, I always dropped Chooch off knowing he was in the best possible hands. That peace of mind is something I’ll never take for granted.
Ally was more than just a caretaker—she was family to Chooch. He loved being there. He knew their routine, their voices, and the special way Ally made him feel like he belonged. Watching him rush in with excitement, tail wagging, told me everything I needed to know. He was safe, he was happy, and he was deeply loved.
But what really hits my heart the hardest is that Ally was there with Chooch during the worst moment of all—Memorial Day. The nightmare that unfolded that day still haunts me. I’ll always carry the pain of not being there with him in those final moments. But the one small comfort I hold on to is that Chooch wasn’t alone. He was with someone he loved and trusted. Someone who knew him deeply. Someone who cared. I will forever be grateful to Ally for holding space for him in that moment—just like she had so many times before.
Now, when I walk into the daycare, I see him. As soon as you step through the door, there he is—his spirit, his memory, his joy. There’s no doubt that Ally, Lindsay, Ben, and the whole team at @the_dogalley made sure Chooch would always be remembered in the most special way. It’s a tribute that brings tears to my eyes, but also so much gratitude.
Chooch was lucky to have a second home filled with such love. And I was lucky to have found people like Ally and her team who treated him like their own. Thank you all for being part of Chooch’s story, especially during the moments I couldn’t be there. Your kindness and love will never be forgotten.
