Dad and Cubis Say Goodbye to the House!

The moment had finally come. After years of laughter, memories, and quiet mornings by the window, Dad and Cubis stood at the doorway, looking back one last time at the house they called home.

Cubis, the clever little monkey who had grown up in every room of the house, clung to Dad’s shoulder with wide, thoughtful eyes. He didn’t fully understand why they had to leave, but he sensed the importance of the moment. The walls still echoed with memories—Cubis swinging from the living room curtains, sneaking snacks from the kitchen, or cuddling with Dad during late-night movie marathons.

Dad knelt down and looked around, his eyes a bit misty. “You grew up here, buddy,” he whispered to Cubis, gently scratching behind his ear. “This place watched you become who you are.”

Room by room, they said their goodbyes. In the bedroom, Cubis tapped the dresser one last time—the same one he used to jump on as a baby. In the backyard, he paused by the tree he once tried to climb but never quite managed. And when they got to the front porch, Dad sat down with Cubis in his lap and took one deep breath.

“It’s not just a house, Cubis,” Dad said, “It’s a part of us. But it’s time for a new chapter.”

As the moving truck pulled away, Cubis looked out the window, ears perked and tail curled tightly around Dad’s arm. He didn’t know what their new home would be like, but he trusted Dad. Wherever Dad went, Cubis would follow—with excitement, a little nervousness, and a heart full of love.

Some goodbyes are hard. But for Dad and Cubis, it was never really the house that made it home. It was the bond they shared—and that would never change.
