Little Cubis Monkey had always been full of energy—playful, curious, and sometimes a little mischievous. But today was different. Today, Cubis wasn’t swinging from tree branches or chasing butterflies. Instead, he sat in the corner of the bamboo hut, sniffling quietly, his tiny arms hugging his knees. His eyes, usually bright with wonder, were now filled with tears and worry.
It all started that morning when Dad had to leave suddenly. He received a call from the nearby village to help rescue an injured animal. In his rush, he didn’t explain much to Cubis—just a quick goodbye and a pat on the head. But to Cubis, who was still learning about the world, it felt like something worse.
“Why did Daddy leave so fast?” he asked his aunt, trembling. “Did I do something wrong?”
No matter how many times his aunt reassured him, Cubis couldn’t shake the fear growing in his heart. He remembered stories of animals left behind and never picked up. Was this one of those times? Would Dad forget about him?
The hours felt like days. He stared at the door, ears perked for the sound of footsteps, heart thumping with every passing moment. Then, just as the sun began to dip behind the trees, a familiar voice called out—“Cubis!”
His little body lit up with joy and relief. He jumped up and ran into his father’s arms, crying even harder now, but for a very different reason.
“I thought you weren’t coming back!” he sobbed into Dad’s shoulder.
Dad held him tightly and whispered, “Cubis, I will always come back for you. I’m sorry I scared you, my little one.”
From that day on, Dad never left without a proper goodbye—and Cubis learned that sometimes love means trusting even when you’re scared.
