Pupu Didn’t Feed Poki the Fruit, the Reason Surprised Us

It was a warm afternoon, and little Pupu was sitting under the mango tree in the backyard, holding a ripe, juicy slice of fruit. Beside her was her best friend, Poki the parrot, who loved fruits more than anything else. Usually, the moment Pupu picked up a fruit, Poki would flap his wings excitedly and squawk until she shared it with him. But today, something was different.

Poki chirped and tilted his head, eyeing the mango slice in Pupu’s hand. He let out a soft squawk, clearly expecting a treat. But to everyone’s surprise, Pupu just looked at him with a serious face and shook her head. “Not this time, Poki,” she said softly.

We were all confused. Pupu loved feeding Poki, and Poki loved eating from her hand. Why had she suddenly decided not to share?

Seeing our puzzled expressions, Pupu finally spoke. “I saw Poki try to eat a bug this morning,” she said. “I don’t know if his tummy is okay. I want to make sure the fruit won’t upset it.”

We were stunned by her thoughtful response. At just a small age, Pupu had noticed something that most of us missed—and she was genuinely worried about her little friend’s health. She wasn’t being mean or selfish. She was being protective.

Instead of feeding Poki, Pupu brought him fresh water and sat beside him, gently petting his feathers. She even went to ask her mom if they could call the vet just to make sure Poki was alright. It turned out Poki was fine, but the vet praised Pupu for being so observant and caring.

That day, we saw a whole new side of Pupu. Her heart was full of love, and her actions came from a place of deep compassion. She may not have given Poki the fruit—but she gave him something even more important: care, attention, and love.
