One sunny morning, Thuy packed her bag and knelt down beside Lala, her fluffy white puppy with bright eyes and a wagging tail.
“Lala, I have to visit Grandma today,” Thuy said gently. “It’s just for one night, but I need you to be a good girl while I’m gone.”
Lala tilted her head and let out a soft bark as if to say, “I understand!”
Thuy smiled and patted her head. “Remember what to do. Food in the red bowl, water in the blue. Don’t forget to nap and don’t chew the slippers!”
When Thuy left, Lala watched the door for a while, ears perked up, hoping she would come back quickly. But soon, she remembered her promise. She wagged her tail, turned around, and began her day.
First, she went to her food bowl and ate her breakfast politely—no mess, no spills! Then she drank some cool water and licked her lips with satisfaction.
After that, Lala played with her squeaky toy for a little while. But when she got tired, she walked to her cozy bed, curled up in a little ball, and took a peaceful nap just like Thuy had taught her.
When she woke up, Lala didn’t bark or dig in the trash like some dogs might. No! She stretched her legs, looked out the window at the birds, and patiently waited.
Night came, and Lala lay in her bed, the house quiet. She missed Thuy, but she didn’t cry or whine. She knew Thuy would be proud of her for being calm and obedient.
The next morning, the door opened—and there was Thuy!
“Lala!” she called joyfully.
Lala dashed to her with happy barks, tail wagging so fast it looked like a blur.
Thuy hugged her tightly. “I’m so proud of you, Lala. You took care of yourself like a big girl!”
Lala gave her a soft woof, and in her puppy heart, she was proud too.
