It all started on a quiet Sunday afternoon when little Lala, age 4, discovered her mother’s makeup bag. Sparkling powders, shiny tubes, and mysterious brushes — it was like finding treasure. But one item in particular caught her eye: a bright red lipstick.
With the stealth of a mischievous ninja and the giggles of a child up to no good, Lala grabbed the lipstick and tiptoed into the living room, where her big sister Thuy, age 10, was peacefully napping on the couch.
That’s when the masterpiece began.
Lala gently uncapped the lipstick and began what she called “makeup magic.” But instead of applying it to Thuy’s lips, she decided her sister’s entire face needed a glamorous makeover. Lips, cheeks, nose, forehead — no spot was safe. Lala even gave her a big, crooked mustache just for fun.
Satisfied with her work, Lala stepped back to admire her creation. Thuy looked like a clown that had gone through a wind tunnel. Lala, proud and completely unaware of the chaos she had unleashed, giggled uncontrollably and shouted, “You’re so pretty now, Thuy!”
The laughter woke Thuy up.
Her eyes fluttered open. “Huh? What’s going on—” She stopped mid-sentence as Lala held up a mirror.
There was a beat of silence.
Then, Thuy screamed.
Then, Lala screamed — but from laughter.
Their mom came rushing in and burst into laughter the moment she saw Thuy’s face. “Lala! What did you do?!”
Lala beamed. “I made her beautiful!”
Thuy, still in shock, couldn’t help but laugh too as she looked at her reflection again. “Lala! I look like a tomato with a mustache!”
The story quickly became legend in their family. Every time someone brought out lipstick, they’d joke, “Better hide it from Lala!”
And though the couch needed cleaning and Thuy’s face took a solid ten minutes to scrub clean, the memory still brings laughter to everyone who hears it.
One thing’s for sure — Lala’s makeup skills? Unforgettable.
