Poki and PUPU Were Happy to Have Uncle Manh When Nguyen Went to the Hospital

When Nguyen had to go to the hospital, everything suddenly felt quiet and strange at home. Poki, a clever little cat with soft orange fur, and PUPU, a fluffy white dog with boundless energy, didn’t understand what was happening. They only knew that their favorite person was gone, and the house felt a little colder without his cheerful voice and gentle hands.

But just when they started to feel lonely, Uncle Manh arrived.

Uncle Manh wasn’t new to them — he had visited before, always bringing treats and belly rubs — but this time, he was staying. He brought a big suitcase, a kind smile, and most importantly, a warm, calm presence that Poki and PUPU instantly felt comforted by.

Each morning, Uncle Manh made sure they had fresh food and water. He talked to them like Nguyen did — with love, patience, and silliness. He even remembered that Poki liked to nap by the window at exactly 3 o’clock and that PUPU loved chasing bubbles in the backyard.

He kept their routines steady, and that helped them feel safe.

In the evenings, he would sit with them and play soft music. Poki curled up in his lap while PUPU rested her head on his feet. Uncle Manh told them stories about when Nguyen was a little boy and how he once tried to build a rocket out of cardboard. It made them feel closer to Nguyen, even while he was away.

Days passed, and Poki and PUPU began to wag their tails and purr again. Though they missed Nguyen dearly, they were happy and calm with Uncle Manh there.

Finally, one sunny morning, Nguyen came home — a little tired but smiling. Poki leaped into his arms, and PUPU barked with joy. Uncle Manh stepped back, smiling warmly at the reunion.

Poki and PUPU were grateful. Because even in the hardest moments, they were never truly alone — they had Uncle Manh, and that made all the difference.
