Why Don’t BiBi and LaLa Want to Sleep with Mom?

BiBi and LaLa were best friends, inseparable from the moment they could walk. But there was one thing that had changed recently, something that made their sleepovers with their mom a little less exciting.

It all started on a chilly winter evening when their mom, usually so warm and loving, suggested they sleep together in her bed. It wasn’t the first time she’d asked, but this time, something was different. BiBi and LaLa exchanged nervous glances as they gathered their stuffed animals and blankets, not quite as eager as they used to be.

“You girls used to love sleeping with me!” Mom said with a gentle smile. “It’ll be just like the old times.”

BiBi fidgeted with her pajama sleeves. “We… we don’t really want to sleep with you tonight, Mom,” she said quietly.

LaLa, who usually spoke up when things felt awkward, added, “Yeah. We’re getting bigger now, and… we kind of like our own space.”

Their mom’s smile faltered for a second, but she didn’t seem upset. “Oh, I see. Well, you’re growing up, aren’t you?” she said, sitting down on the edge of their bed. “It’s okay, if you feel like you’re ready for your own room. But remember, you can always come to me if you change your mind.”

BiBi and LaLa both nodded, feeling a little guilty but also relieved. They still loved their mom more than anything, but the idea of having their own space at night—of snuggling into their cozy blankets alone, of reading a book in peace before bed—was something they had come to cherish.

As the night wore on, BiBi and LaLa whispered to each other, giggling under their covers. They realized that growing up wasn’t about leaving things behind, but finding new ways to be independent, all while knowing that their mom would always be there when they needed her most.
