Monkey Lyly Rummaged Through the Kitchen Because She Was Hungry in the Middle of the Night

In the stillness of the night, while the household was fast asleep, a quiet rustling sound stirred in the kitchen. Monkey Lyly, a clever little macaque with big curious eyes and an even bigger appetite, was wide awake—and very hungry.

The moonlight spilled through the window, casting a silver glow across the countertops. Lyly tiptoed silently (or so she thought), her tiny hands already reaching for the cupboard handles. She had learned a few tricks from observing the humans during the day, and now was her chance to put them to good use.

She climbed onto a stool, then onto the counter, her tail swishing behind her for balance. Her sharp eyes scanned the kitchen like a little burglar on a mission. Within moments, she found her prize: the fruit bowl. Apples, bananas, and a few leftover grapes sat there like treasure. Her face lit up with joy.

She grabbed a banana and began peeling it expertly—this wasn’t her first midnight snack. After devouring it in seconds, she moved on to a half-eaten sandwich wrapped in foil. Not her favorite, but good enough. Crumbs fell everywhere, and wrappers scattered across the floor as Lyly explored further, leaving behind a trail of midnight mischief.

Suddenly, a floorboard creaked behind her. Lyly froze, mid-bite, eyes wide. One of the lights flicked on. Busted.

Her human, sleepy-eyed and confused, stood at the kitchen door, rubbing their eyes. “Lyly? Again?”

The little monkey gave an innocent squeak, holding up a half-eaten grape like a peace offering.

Trying not to laugh, the human gently picked her up. “You little rascal. You could’ve just waited until morning.”

Back in her cozy bed, with a full belly and a smug little grin, Lyly curled up under her blanket. The kitchen was a mess, but she was content. After all, a midnight adventure was just what she needed.
