One sunny morning in the heart of the jungle, Monkey Lyly woke up feeling extra helpful. She saw her mother scrubbing the floor of their little treehouse with a coconut husk broom and a bucket of water. The leaves had gathered, and some fruits had fallen, making everything sticky and messy.
“I want to help too, Mama!” Lyly squeaked excitedly, hopping up and down. Her mother smiled and handed her a small brush made from palm fibers. “All right, Lyly, just be careful not to make more of a mess.”
Lyly took her job very seriously—at first. She dipped her little brush in the bucket and began scrubbing furiously, splashing water everywhere. In her enthusiasm, she slipped on a banana peel, rolled across the floor, and knocked over the whole bucket.
Water went everywhere. Leaves stuck to Lyly’s fur, and the floor now looked even worse than before. Embarrassed but determined, Lyly jumped up and declared, “I’ll fix it!”
But just as she started sweeping again, her tummy made a loud gurgle. All that jumping and slipping must have stirred something up. Before she could run to the nearby bush (as Mama had taught her), it happened—plop, plop, plop. Monkey Lyly had pooped right on the clean floor. Then, panicked, she tried to clean it up—but only made things worse by stepping in it and spreading it around.
Her mother gasped when she turned around. “Lyly!” she cried, half laughing, half groaning. “What happened?!”
Lyly looked down, her cheeks turning pink under her fur. “I was just trying to help…”
Mama sighed, then started chuckling. “You did try, sweetheart. Maybe we just need to work on timing and toilet breaks.”
Together, they cleaned up—again—and this time, Mama gave Lyly a special job of handing her fresh leaves for drying the floor. No brushes, no buckets, and definitely no slipping!
From that day on, Lyly always made sure to go potty before cleaning time.
