It was a quiet afternoon at home, and Monkey Lyly was happily playing with her toys in the corner of the yard. The sun was warm, the breeze was gentle, and everything seemed peaceful—until a strange sound suddenly echoed from behind the bushes.
“Lylyyy… Lylyyy…” a whispery voice called out, soft but mysterious. Monkey Lyly’s ears perked up, and she froze in place. She looked around quickly but saw no one. “That’s strange…” she mumbled to herself, her little brow furrowing in confusion.
Again the voice came. “Come here, Lylyyyy!” Now her curiosity got the best of her. Who was teasing her? Was it her mom playing a prank? Or one of her friends hiding nearby? Lyly tilted her head, trying to figure it out, then quickly got up and ran toward the sound.
She peeked behind the bushes—nothing. Then she darted behind the tree—still no one. Lyly scratched her head, more confused than ever. “Who’s playing tricks on me?” she asked aloud. Suddenly, a giggle erupted from behind the water barrel.
Lyly ran over, only to discover her friend Diem crouching there, barely holding in her laughter. “Gotcha!” Diem shouted, laughing hard. Monkey Lyly let out a mock gasp. “Diem! That was you?! I thought a ghost was calling me!”
Both of them burst into giggles, falling to the ground laughing. Lyly wasn’t mad—just relieved that it wasn’t something scary. Diem pulled out a toy voice-changer she had borrowed from her dad’s toolbox, proudly showing Lyly how it worked.
From that moment on, Lyly decided she needed to be just as clever next time. “Just wait, Diem,” she said with a playful grin, “I’ll prank you back soon!”
And so, the day that began quietly turned into one full of laughter, fun, and a little mischief—a memory Lyly would never forget.
