It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, and Monkey Lyly was full of energy. Her mother was busy preparing lunch inside the house, leaving Lyly to play outside near the swimming pool. At first, Lyly splashed around the shallow end, laughing and enjoying the cool water. But soon, her mischievous mind started to wander.
Looking around, Lyly noticed a box of colorful decorations sitting by the garden — bright balloons, ribbons, and even some paper lanterns left over from a recent family party. An idea popped into her head: Why not surprise Mom by decorating the pool?
With her little hands moving quickly, Lyly grabbed everything she could find. She tied balloons to the pool ladder, draped ribbons across the fence, and even floated a few paper lanterns on the water. Each time she added something new, she would step back proudly to admire her work. She even placed some flower petals she found in the garden around the edges of the pool to make it look even more beautiful.
Of course, things didn’t go perfectly. A few balloons popped loudly under the hot sun, startling Lyly and making her giggle. Some of the lanterns quickly got soaked and sank to the bottom of the pool. But Lyly didn’t mind — to her, the pool looked like a magical paradise.
Just as she finished her masterpiece, her mother came outside, wiping her hands on a kitchen towel. She stopped in her tracks, eyes wide at the colorful, chaotic scene before her. For a moment, there was complete silence. Lyly stood nervously, wondering if she was going to get scolded.
Then, her mother laughed — a warm, happy laugh. She knelt down and hugged Lyly tightly. “You are so creative, my little monkey! Thank you for making everything so colorful!”
Lyly beamed with pride. That afternoon, the two of them enjoyed the prettiest, most memorable pool day ever, all thanks to Lyly’s big imagination and a little bit of mischief.
