Early in the morning, Cubis the monkey was already wide awake and full of excitement. Dad had promised to take him along to the market, a place Cubis loved because it was always lively, colorful, and filled with interesting smells. Cubis imagined baskets of fruit, friendly people, and maybe even a sweet snack if he behaved well. He followed Dad around the house closely, afraid that if he looked away for even a second, Dad might leave without him.
Dad, however, was taking longer than usual. He moved calmly, checking his bag, tying his shoes, and making sure everything was ready. Cubis sat near the door, tail curled neatly beside him, eyes fixed on Dad’s every move. At first, he tapped his fingers on the floor and looked around impatiently. “Are we going now?” his curious eyes seemed to ask again and again.
As the minutes passed, the morning breeze became soft and warm. The quiet sounds of the house slowly replaced Cubis’s excitement. His eyelids grew heavy, and the tapping of his fingers became slower. Without realizing it, Cubis leaned against the wall, his head gently tilting to one side. The excitement of the market faded into a cozy, sleepy feeling.
Before Dad even finished getting ready, Cubis had fallen fast asleep. He curled up near the door, hugging his little bag as if already dreaming of the market. His breathing was calm and steady, and a tiny smile rested on his face. Dad turned around and couldn’t help but laugh softly at the adorable sight.
Instead of waking him right away, Dad covered Cubis with a light cloth and watched him for a moment. When Cubis finally woke up, rubbing his sleepy eyes, he was surprised to see Dad smiling down at him. Though he had missed a bit of waiting time, the market was still there, and so was Dad.
That morning became a sweet memory. Cubis learned that even excitement needs rest, and Dad learned that sometimes the most precious moments happen when plans slow down. With renewed energy, Cubis jumped up, ready for the market adventure to finally begin. 🐒💤
