It was supposed to be a quick trip to the market. Mom was getting ready like usual, grabbing her bag and heading toward the door. But just as she reached for the motorbike key, something unusual happened—it was gone. She clearly remembered leaving it on the table. Confused, she searched everywhere. Under books, on shelves, even inside the kitchen drawers. Still, no key.
Meanwhile, Monkey Lyly was sitting on the floor nearby, casually munching a banana and pretending not to notice the search. But her sideways glances and suspiciously innocent smile told a different story. Something was definitely up.
Eventually, Mom’s instincts kicked in. She crouched down to Lyly’s little corner in the living room and gently lifted one of the small cushions. And there it was—the motorbike key—tucked safely underneath, next to Lyly’s favorite toy. Mom couldn’t believe it. She looked at Lyly, who immediately covered her face with her tiny hands as if to say, “Oops, you found it!”
It turns out that Lyly had been watching her mom get ready to leave and panicked at the idea of being left behind. She decided the best way to make her mom stay was to hide the key. No key, no motorbike. No motorbike, no leaving. Simple monkey logic—and incredibly touching.
Mom knelt down and gave Lyly a big hug, laughing through tears. “You didn’t want me to go, huh?” she whispered, while Lyly clung tightly to her shoulder. It was such a small gesture, but one full of emotion and love.
In that moment, Mom realized just how much her presence meant to Lyly. What seemed like a mischievous prank was actually a heartfelt plea: “Please stay with me a little longer.” And of course, how could any mother say no to that?
